THE CHURCH SENDS
The Biblical command to “go and make disciples of all nations” was not issued to a mission organization – it was issued to individual believers gathered in local churches! Therefore, we at Global Serve International (GSI) believe that it is your role as leaders of local churches to send out qualified members to see this great task accomplished. We do not wish to usurp the Biblical sending role that God has given His church, but we do wish to offer our leadership and experience to support you in this role.
COMMON QUESTIONS
HOW DOES GSI RELATE TO CHURCHES?
Without our church partners and their dedicated members, GSI would cease to exist. At GSI we have a church relations team that interacts with church leaders routinely to track the progress of their missionaries on the field and support them to overcome any challenges that may lay ahead. This transparency helps your church to know how to encourage and equip your church members serving abroad, as well as keep them accountable.
WHAT KIND OF CHURCHES DOES GSI PARTNER WITH?
GSI partners with churches when there is agreement on the core principles of church planting among unreached people groups. We believe that the role of the sending church goes beyond a financial contribution each month. We want to have each member within your church congregation become fully aware of the task as you send one of your members overseas.
WHAT CAN YOUR CHURCH EXPECT FROM A PARTNERSHIP WITH GSI?
We provide the missionaries you send out to the field with ongoing training and consultants who are experts in language-learning, Bible translation and church planting. We also provide a financial framework to get your gifts to them and a support network of Christian businessmen who assist our missionaries in creating platforms which will allow them to stay long-term. Finally, we provide regular accountability and encouragement in the local area where the worker serves.
If you are interested, we can also provide missions training to the members of your church who remain in this country, ensuring that they know how to pray and support the workers they sent out.
WHAT DOES GSI EXPECT FROM CHURCH PARTNERS?
We expect that the churches who send out their members for service among an unreached people group will be actively involved in that person’s ministry at many stages of the work.
Before departing for the field, we hold a pre-field orientation designed not only to equip the one going out, but to educate the sending church as well. We strongly recommend attendance by a representative from the church. Once the worker is on the field, our church relations team will be communicating with the sending church and we would love regular contact and involvement in the ministry from the sending church. Again, we do not want the church to abdicate her God-given role in the Great Commission to GSI simply because it requires less responsibility. Instead, we want to come alongside and support local churches who are actively sending their members overseas for church-planting ministry among unreached peoples.
